iRobot Series Robot Vacuum Cleaners
A robotics company that has been a pioneer in its field for many years, iRobot is now focused on home automation that is smart. Their robot vacuum cleaners come with pinpoint navigation and dirt detectors.
A story that is featured in the frame story focuses on the character Gloria and her robot nursemaid, Robbie. Gloria is devastated when her parents send Robbie back to the factory.
Roomba
Roomba is a robotic vacuum cleaner that operates autonomously. It is designed to clean floors and carpets It maneuvers around furniture and other obstacles to vacuum the floor thoroughly. It automatically returns to the dock and charges, and it can be controlled via a smartphone application or a remote control.
Most Roomba models are able to detect obstacles with infrared sensors and are able to change direction when they encounter an obstacle. More advanced versions can make an outline of the floor's surface and then determine the best route to follow. This allows them to vacuum a larger area in less time than previous models, and improves efficiency. Certain Roombas have the squeegee which can be used to pick up large debris such as pebbles and crumbs. Some have a bin with a large capacity that can hold more dirt prior to having to be empty.
The iRobot Home app lets you schedule cleaning times, decide when the robot should return to its dock and control other functions like altering the number of passes. The app also provides a full history of each cleaning job, including how long it took to complete the task and if the robot encountered an obstacle or canceled its job. The iRobot app can be integrated with other irobot mopping robot products, like Braava M6, which will automatically start mopping when the Roomba finishes vacuuming.
In May, iRobot introduced the S series of Roombas that are equipped with advanced obstacle detection and intelligent mapping technology to help discover the most efficient route through a home. The S9 and S9+ are the most advanced Roombas iRobot has made to date, featuring 40 times more suction than the 600 series and 30% larger brushes that are made of rubber to provide better edge cleaning. They can also design "Keep out zones" to stop the robot from entering specific areas, such as a denseet of cords.
The j9+ is the most premium model, and it includes everything that the brand can offer. The j9+ features an auto-emptying base, advanced obstacle detection and automatic updates to iRobot OS. It can also learn about your habits of cleaning and adjust the power of its motors for brush cleaning. It is also able to pick up deeper-entrenched dirt, pet hair, and allergens.
Scooba
The Irobot Scooba was designed to clean your floor without mess. It utilizes an active-reservoir design to isolate the cleaning solution from dirty water. It also employs three steps of cleaning which scrubs, washes and then squeezes the floor to remove dirt and odor. It can clean up to 150 square feet in just one cleaning.
The Scooba is a simple operation. Its top is adorned with three clearly labeled buttons with backlights. The largest button, Clean, starts and ends the cleaning process. The Information button on the left will flash various colors to indicate status, and the third button is a button that will start a specific task. There is an insignificant power switch as well as a port for the power cord.
It has a battery you can replace as needed. It takes two hours to recharge, but is convenient for those who need quick cleaning. Scooba comes with an adjustable base plate that helps in cleaning the vacuum holes and bristles. The battery slot is press-fit and slightly recessed, but there is an o-ring to keep the water from getting into the battery compartment.
The Scooba cleaned most of our kitchen tiles during our tests, but had trouble with our room for mud. It was able to clean the mud but not the edges of the room, and it could not get close to the kitchen cabinets. We also noticed that it was easy to get the rounded Scooba stuck beneath furniture. This was not ideal for us.
It was quick and did a fantastic cleaning job on the rest of our home. It cleaned the bathroom extremely well and we didn't need to worry about lingering smells. The Scooba is also very loud, and it could be difficult to operate it in a bedroom or living room.
I did notice some gunk stuck in the vacuum holes at the bottom of the Scooba. This can be removed in part by rinsing it off. This is crucial, as the clogged holes could cause your bot to stop functioning.
Braava
The iRobot Braava Jet m6 may look simple however, the company has crammed many of the most sophisticated engineering to make mopping and navigation work efficiently. Its compact body measures 10 x 10.6 x 3.5 inches and weighs 4.4 pounds, so it is able to maneuver in tight spaces without causing damage to furniture. The robot's cleaning head is designed to scrub hard floors and its nozzle sprays water for mopping with water. It also vibrates to remove dirt and remove stains.
The robot utilizes vSLAM navigation which is the most recent technology in home mapping. It avoids carpet and other obstacles. Its driving wheels help it get around corners and cliff sensors prevent it from falling down stairs or other steep drop-offs. It also can learn your cleaning habits and suggests more frequent cleaning during allergy season or pollen season.
Using the iRobot HOME app it is possible to set a schedule and select rooms to be cleaned. You can also create Keep Out Zones to keep out areas that you don't want the robot to access. You can even manage the multi-Surface robot vacuum using voice commands, because it is compatible with Google Assistant and Alexa devices (sold separately).
You can adjust the power level to your liking if you are not satisfied with the results. The m6 comes with three preset cleaning modes, each one balancing cleaning power and coverage area. Standard mode is perfect for regular maintenance. Deep and extended coverage modes work well for tackling tough dirt. You can use a conventional cleaning solution or iRobot's Hard Floor Cleaning Solution that is available separately.
The m6 will automatically return to its base station after cleaning and recharge itself. The light ring on the top of the robot will indicate its current state, and the battery icon will show when it's charged. The iRobot HOME application can connect with the Roomba Roomba and Braava. Braava which makes it easier to organize cleaning.
